Erosion-Corrosion of Gathering Pipeline Steel in Oil-Water-Sand Multiphase Flow

This work studies a series of factors influencing erosion-corrosion in oilfield gathering pipelines steel using the home-made testing pipe flow loop. Results showed that was corroded oil-water flow. The corrosion rate increased with velocity on whole, and addition solid particles would intensify localized corrosion. For test added 2 wt% quartz sand at m/s, portion pure erosion accounted for 47.50% 70.83%, respectively. erosion-enhanced 16.67% total weight loss, while inhibiting damage from 35.00%, so negative synergistic effects appeared oil-water-sand multiphase conditions.
